Our Story
Some dreams stay with us for a long time before we find the courage to begin.
For Shylaja Sandeep, that dream began with a simple love for sarees. From childhood, she loved seeing them, wearing them, and imagining the day she could bring beautiful sarees to other women.
Years later, she decided to give that little dream a chance.
Starting something new on her own felt exciting, but also a little daunting. So she reached out to her friend Sandhya Prem, who shared the same love for sarees and the same excitement for creating something of their own. Soon, Nalini Ashok and Saritha Vinod joined them.
Four friends. One shared love. And a dream that slowly became Sakhy.
Today, Sakhy is their journey of building something together — learning together, travelling to find beautiful collections, working through every challenge, and growing one saree at a time.

Behind Sakhy are four friends who decided to take a shared passion and turn it into something of their own.
We may each bring something different to the table, but our love for sarees, our trust in one another, and our belief in what we're building keep us moving in the same direction.
What started with Shylaja's dream became something all four of us could call our own.
Today, a big part of our lives goes into Sakhy — travelling to find collections, discovering something special, discussing every little detail, and working together to bring it to you.
It's a dream we're growing together.

A saree can be beautiful without being difficult to wear. That's why we look for pieces that bring together beauty and comfort — sarees you don't just admire, but genuinely look forward to wearing.
Chosen with care
We don't want to simply fill a catalogue with sarees. We travel, explore and take our time finding collections that speak to us. We choose the pieces we would be happy to wear ourselves, and hope that when you find one you love, it feels just as special to you.
Made to feel like you
We believe a saree is more than something you wear. It's the way you feel when you drape it, look in the mirror and feel a little more like yourself. We want every woman who finds a saree at Sakhy to feel comfortable, confident and beautiful in her own way.
We know that buying a saree online is different. You can't touch the fabric, see the colours in person or drape it before making your choice. And we understand why that can sometimes feel uncertain.
So we want to make your experience with Sakhy as honest and reassuring as possible. We will bring you sarees we genuinely love, show them to you as they are, and take care with every order that leaves us.
Because when a Sakhy saree reaches you, we want you to feel that it was chosen with care — not just for a customer, but for you.

There is a little story behind every saree you see here. There are journeys taken to find the right collections. Long conversations between four friends. Sarees picked, compared, reconsidered and finally chosen. There is the excitement of finding something beautiful — and the hope that you will love it when you see it too.
Sakhy may have started online, but behind every picture, message and order are four real women putting their time, energy and heart into this little dream.
We don't have a physical store yet. But we have a dream of one. One day, we hope to open our doors and welcome you into a Sakhy store — a place where you can take your time, feel the fabrics, explore the colours and find the saree that feels just right.
